Just wanted to say - love your blog, love your attitude and the photo's of where you live, make me insanely jealous!!
Thank you! Attitude is one thing I have plenty of!
And yup, y’all should be jealous of the area I live, cos it’s gorgeous!
You didn’t think too deeply about this did you? Of course not. If you were prone to thinking deeply about things… you probably wouldn’t be a Feminist, now would you?
I’m screaming “THAT’S THE POINT THAT’S LITERALLY THE POINT YOU JUST MADE THE EXACT POINT” at my computer screen right now.

I saw a commercial last night advertising a department store specifically for larger men. I realized that I’ve seen quite a few clothing stores that openly advertise for larger men, but I have never seen a store that advertises at all for larger women that wasn’t online.
It intersects with sexism and male privilege too, but thin privilege is easily finding stores that sell all available clothing in your size.
You know, I have NEVER seen an ad on telly for either a plus-size brand or even a plus-size range in a department store.
Not once in my memory.
1) Benedict Cumberbatch gave a phenomenal performance as Khan Noonien Singh in Star Trek: Into Darkness.
2) The casting of a white man as Khan Noonien Singh in 2013 is HIGHLY PROBLEMATIC.
3) Both of these things can be true at the same time.
4) No, really;…
Hand Jackson Pollock (And I am, in NO WAY, saying that Cumberbatch compares to Jackson Pollock) a bucket of shit and demand that he repaint DaVinci’s Mona Lisa; know what your going to get? Shit splattered all over a canvas.
The problem isn’t Cumberbunch (a competent actor. Most of the cast ranges from competent to good). The problem is the bucket of fecal matter JJ Abrams handed them to work with. When a director gives, not one fuck, about the movie they’re working on, it doesn’t matter how good the cast is. What you end up with is the farce that is Star Trek: Into Darkness, or shit splattered on a screen.
THIS! There is SO much fucking wrong with the whole shebang of J.J. Abrams interpretation of Star Trek and Abrams has been a complete douchecanoe through and through. But the vicious, hateful shit aimed at the cast is pointless and unproductive. Your target should be Abrams, not the people who work for him.
