It’s like you feel you don’t have a right to take up as much space as you do unless you can justify why you taking up that much space is something you’re really trying hard not to do.
I’ve said this before, but it just came to my mind again while reading some reblogging “conversation” in which someone used that defense tactic.
It took a lot of learning for me not to respond with this. Sometimes I feel like FA happens in two stages - first you’re so indignant that people assume your body isn’t healthy because it’s fat, and then something clicks - for me it was reading this article - and all of a sudden you’re indignant that being healthy is some weird kind of moral value and obligation in the first place.
I always did the same thing. Now my response is a simple:
“My health and my body is none of your business.”
